Hello I am Yongchen Wu, a junior student who is considering to be a singer in the future. In this post, I am going to explain how and why I am taking the IB theatre class.
The first thing making me join the class is that I enjoy the feeling of being cheered on the stage. My first time on stage was last autumn. I prepared for a 3 minutes speech to run for the president of student body of the school. Before I stepped on the stage, my friends warned me not to stare on the audiences but do what you want. I felt my heart bumping in my chest 1 minutes before I go to the stage. When I stood on the rostrum, I felt time passing so fast like I lost my awareness but I was doing what I supposed to. I never looked at the audiences

at all. Even though I was extremely nervous but I finally got through that. In fact, I felt great achievement after standing on the stage. This also became one of the most important reasons that make me signed up for the host mc of the Christmas party of last year.

Second, I want to say that I really love singing. I was not a boy who enjoys singing a lot many years ago. I hardly open my mouth to singing before 14. When I was entering the second year of my middle school, I made a lot of friends and we always play together. One of my friends, Zhang, Sings really well. He always invites us to karaoke. By taking us to karaoke, he makes a lot of friends. From that time, I started to think singing well is a real cool thing. Before this, I only listen to others’ singing or music, rarely open my mouth. But started that time, I started singing. My favorite singer and musician is Jay Chou who is really famous in China and I listened to him since I was 5. Started that time, I begun to sing on my way back home, in the bathroom, in karaoke. However, I was not a good singer and mostly I sang for fun but I did not consider it a meaningful thing in my life. Yet, I felt super excited every time I sang in bathroom or I got a microphone in my hands. That is how I become an amateur of singing.

At third, I think I have talent on acting. I can make different noise and I have the courage to act and express. One of my roommates 2 years ago said the most scary horror story is told by me. Also I have another ability makes me suitable for acting: hide and control emotion.
Here is how and why I picked this class. I always wanted to learn how to sing and act before I come to the US. Then when I saw this class on the course list I think here is where I should begin. Even though most of myself want to be a singer, but I think some acting and stage skills are required, too. I hope to gain more confidence and stage experiences in this class and lean some vocal and stage skills in the class.
