Everything is going well with our scene.e We made a lot of adjustments in these days.
I want to talk about the whole group first. This is a 3 people small group so we cooperate quite well. Janna seems acting herself because every movement every emotion are so natural and enough. The only things we proposed her are some positions on the stage and some lines. Helen made a great progress, too. I can remember that she always smirked on me when we were in a sad atmosphere and her voice was really soft that we cannot hear it in the video. However, now she can make the stage a place to perform not a place to practice. When I was watching at the video yesterday I can hundred percent sure that she is that sad and hesitating Nicole. The chemical reaction in our group is really great. We always speak out when we need to without hesitation. In the group communication, Janna always leads discussion and raises good viewpoints which helped us changed a lot. I am happy to be able to work in such a group. I think we are ready to perform the final version.
Now I want to talk about myself. At first, I don't really understand my character because his personality is not that obvious like Allie is a ambitious and progressive student leader and Nicole is a home relating shy football player. And then, I find out that I have to convert this character "Austin" to myself which means put myself on Austin's position to understand him. Then I realized that Austin is a brave and responsible boy who doesn't have a lot of friends but really cherishes his friendship. After the activity that Helen brought us, I started to think 'I am Austin, this is what I will do'. That is all about how I tried my character. Now I am going to talk about stage movements and verbal expressions. I thought my volume and my movements are enough after I the first time we finished the scene. But I was wrong. I went over the video with astonishment: my voice sounds like ants talking and nobody can hear it in the video and my movements look like everybody else but just not Austin. My movements were unnatural and stiff. Then I listened to my partner's advice and made adjustments. Also, I did not aware that my volume was really low that I can only hear uuuuuaaaaadudududuuooo things. I tried to hit a balance between enough volume and enough mood during the practices. Though I still need to remind myself every time before saying the lines, I think I am much better than the very first.
Wish we will do a perfect job on the final!
